What is a North Pole Breakfast?
Every year, when December 1st rolls around, I put together a North Pole breakfast to coincide with the arrival of our favourite elf – Rosie! We started this tradition when our daughter, Avery was just four years old. It’s something she looks forward to every year, and it kicks off our Christmas festivities.
There are a lot of elaborate tablescapes out there for this festive breakfast, so I try to keep ours scaled back. My daughter is always excited with having a few treats with her breakfast. Remember, you can be as extravagant or as low key as you want.
Here are some ideas on how to make your own North Pole Breakfast (I’ve also included some photos below for inspiration).
Base Layer:
- A plain coloured Christmas tablecloth and overlay with a festive table runner
- If you don’t have a tablecloth that would work, use a roll of wrapping paper and place it down the middle. It’s a quick and inexpensive option!
- If available, add some small lights – it gives it that extra festive sparkle!
Centrepieces:
(not necessary, but a fun way to add some extra Christmas fun)
- A North Pole Breakfast sign (welcoming your kiddos to this festive meal)
- A bottle brush Christmas Tree
- A few different sized nutcrackers
- The options are endless!
Food (the favourite part for the kids!):
- Festive Pancakes or Waffles (with whip cream and sprinkles)
- Snowman or Reindeer Marshmallows
- Powdered Donuts with Candy Cane Sticks
- Elf or Christmas themed cookies
- Christmas brownies
Additional add-ons:
- Small bowls to add holiday kisses, marshmallows, etc
- A festive plate
- A festive mug/cup for their beverage of choice
- If you have more than one child, you could also print customized name cards
Play some holiday music and you will have one festive breakfast to kick off the season!
